IEIM - Institut d’études internationales de Montréal IEIM - Institut d’études internationales de Montréal

The Institute of International Studies in Montreal (IISM) was created in 2002 to support, reinforce and deepen research initiatives, train students and mobilize the insights derived from the work of nine research centers and chairs belonging to the Faculty of Political Science and Law. Over the years, the IISM has opened its membership to three more research centers and chairs belonging to the Faculty of Social Sciences, which brings the total of its constituencies to twelve.

The IISM’s mission is threefold. First, it provides for the deepening of the international dimension of the activities of its members, as well as for the extension of its membership to other research centers and chairs working on projects of the same nature and relevancy in the greater Montreal area. Second, it provides for the establishment of collaborations with public and private organizations that are already engaged in similar activities and initiatives both in the city, and in the province of Quebec at large. Third, it also falls within the mission of the IISM to establish connections with research centers and chairs involved in similar projects in other universities across the world.
