Me Ellefsen is working as an attorney under the Director of the criminal and penal prosecutions at the Department of Foreign Affairs. Her primary research interests are transnational law, humanitarian law, criminal law and the use of armed force in public international law.

In 2012, Me Ann Ellefsen completed a Bachelor of laws (LL.B.) at the University of Sherbrooke where she also did a student exchange program at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Mexico. She also holds a master’s degree in Common Law and Transnational Law from the University of Sherbrooke. Her master thesis, under the supervision of Professor François Crépeau, focuses on the protection of internally displaced persons; «La protection des personnes déplacées internes : le R2P aura-t-il permis de briser le mur la souveraineté».

She was admitted to the Québec Bar after completing an internship at the International Criminal Court in 2012. She then joined the Office of the Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for the Sierra Leone appeal case against the former Liberian President, Charles Taylor.
