Maertens, Lucile

Lucile Maertens is a PhD candidate in Political Science and International Relations at Sciences Po Paris and the University of Geneva where she holds a Teaching Assistant position. Beneficiary of a three-year scholarship from the French Ministry of Defense, she is affiliated to the Centre d’études et de recherches internationales (CERI) and the Institut de recherche stratégique de l’Ecole militaire (IRSEM).

Graduated from Sciences Po Paris in 2010, she studied natural disasters management and recently published Le Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Refugiés (HCR) face aux catastrophes naturelles : ce que le tsunami de 2004 a changé (L'Harmattan, 2012). Her main fields of research are the multilateralism and the United Nations, security issues and critical security studies, and environment and international relations. Her PhD dissertation focuses more precisely on the process of environmental securitization within the United Nations.
